Eleanor Daly b.1999 Amsterdam, Netherlands

Eleanor Daly is an oil painter. Her work is fast, desperate and colourful. Representational but beyond realism, she paints people and place. Love and Obsession are the driving force of her practice. From Isabelle Graws’ The Love of Painting, she sees the labour of painting as a sacrifice to love.

She draws from autobiographical experiences of beautiful, painful and erotic of parts of lesbian love. She plays with lesbian visual signifiers in the formality of painting. Being a lover makes a better painter and being a painter makes a better lover. In this thought process she hold Fandom at the centre of her practice- it is obsession beyond the self. She views fandom as a mode of theory; it challenges taste, identity and the boundaries of good/bad.
